Here are 10 of the best virtual field trips By: Meris Stansbury
This was an interesting article on virtual field trips in the classroom. Virtual field trips can save time and money for school; however finding the perfect virtual field trip that is up-to-date can be time consuming. This article gave 10 sites that were quality field trips to promote engagement with the students. Most of the trips would be more appropriate for a social studies, geography or government class. I did however find one that I could use in the FACS classroom. It was one on visiting the Hershey's Factory. It gave students a step-by-step guide on how chocolate was made. I could possibly also use the Global Trek site in which students travel the world and keep a journal on different countries if I related it to foods in that country.

Bringing Acceptable-Use Policies into the 21st Century
By: Kari Rhame Murphy
This was an interesting article on how a suburban school in Texas came up with an acceptable usage policy for technology. The wanted to create a set of guidelines that would reflect their visions and values of a school. The first step they took was creating a vision. The next step they formed a committee of an administrator, a teachers, parents, and a technology integration specialist. Together they compiled responsible use principles for teachers and students. The guidelines reflected the district's philosophy of education; how to be a good digital citizen, conditions using technology in a safe way and responsible way, and how to use technology in accordance to the state and federal laws. They then created videos to outline safe and responsible use of technology that was placed on the portal for parents, teachers, students, and new admistrators to view and acknowledge with their signatures.
